Join the Science Writers Association of the Rocky Mountains for a panel discussion and Q&A on how to tell science stories through audio. We've got nationally-known writers from the Rockies to inspire and enlighten you about this form of multimedia storytelling.

The conversation will be led by Rae Ellen Bichell, a Colorado correspondent for Kaiser Health News. Previously, she was a radio reporter for the Mountain West News Bureau and KUNC.

Our panelists:

Kristine de Leon covers Butte and Southwest Montana for Montana Public Radio. She has worked as a newspaper reporter in Butte and eastern Oregon, and in a past life she studied Arctic microbial communities in thawing permafrost.

Luke Runyon reports on water and climate change in the Western U.S., and is a Ted Scripps Environmental Journalism fellow at the University of Colorado Boulder. Previously, he reported on the Colorado River basin for a collaborative network of public media stations throughout the watershed.

Maddie Sofia is the founding host of NPR's daily science podcast "Short Wave." Previously, she hosted the NPR

video show "Maddie About Science" and co-developed the worldwide NPR Scicommers program, which supported scientists interested in building their communication skills.

Want to hear the conversation but can't attend in real time? We'll circulate a video recording to registrants afterward.
