About the Event

Freelance writing has never been an easy gig, and it's arguably harder now than ever. But there are a few who are able to pull it off and build fulfilling careers.

In this roundtable discussion, hosted by a freelancer-turned-NYT-editor, Erik Vance, we will talk to Sarah Scoles, a Colorado-based science journalist and author, about how to set up a career in freelance journalism and balance financial needs with the alchemy of building a platform. Then we'll talk to Steven Bedard, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of bioGraphic magazine, about what editors want to see in a pitch.

Just show up, no need to RSVP on this site. But you can email sciwrirockies-at-gmail-dot-com with any questions.
