SWARM holiday party

Join us in-person or virtually on Monday, December 5, to network with other Rockies-area science writers and celebrate the season. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous sponsor, the event is free for paid-up SWARM members to attend in person; $30 for non-members to attend in person (you'll also get a complimentary one-year membership in SWARM); $15 for a guest for any registrant (limited to 1 guest per registrant); and free for virtual attendance. 6 p.m. in Denver: Food, wine tasting and tour, SWARM giveaways, and a raffle! Location is the luxurious Balistreri Vineyards, 1946 E. 66th St. in Denver. The food includes a light buffet with vegetarian options — antipasti station, meatball/mushroom arancini/polenta/arugula salad, and chocolate/fruit dessert. Attendees will receive one limited wine tasting plus a glass of wine of their choice. Additional glasses will be available for purchase, as will bottles to take home (they make great holiday gifts! Balistreri specializes in natural wines). Non-alcoholic drinks are complimentary to attendees.

7 p.m., both in Denver and online: Join us for a fireside chat featuring SWARM board member Kenna Castleberry interviewing Sam Brasch. Sam, a Colorado native, covers all things climate and environmental for Colorado Public Radio. We'll discuss his fun and fascinating journalism career plus his tips for writers on nature, wildlife, and even the macabre. 

We have a cap on the number of people who can be in the Denver winery, so if you sign up and your plans change, please email sciwrirockies@gmail.com so we can give your spot to someone else. You will get a refund of your ticket price only if you cancel by 11:59 p.m. MT on December 1. Registration for in-person spots closes at 11:59 p.m. MT on December 1 so we can have a final head count for the winery.

To attend in person, you must be up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccines, having completed a primary vaccine series plus the most recent booster dose recommended for you by the CDC. If you feel ill for any reason, stay home. 

There is plenty of free parking at the winery; if you will be taking public transportation let us know by December 2 at sciwrirockies@gmail.com if you'll need a ride to/from the RTD stop which is some ways distant.
